This particular hotel doesn’t have basic cleanliness. The rooms smell like urine and they cover it with room freshner. Secondly, the beddings are all the same for anyone who visits and they don’t wash it, only the cover is changed and they smell like rotten rats. The service team gives unnecessary attitude when questioned . The location is just close to the Viswanath mandir. But to go there and get out is a big hassle as no auto nor rickshaw goes there due to their traffic rules. And the room has bed bugs and other insects which bite at night. Had a really bad experience. Mark my words from someone who stayed here for almost 1 week. Hated the whole experience. Pros- just good hot water.
Room is neat and clean good. But the access to the hotel is very difficult and unnecessary harrasment by the security personnel. Hotel staffs are strict enough. I reached there at 10AM but don't allow us for early check in. I request as I have a 4 years old but not allowed. We have to wait at Mandir corridor upto 1 PM for check in. Staffs are not at all helpful. Don't know why. May be I didn't take any package from them. But the access to Baba Viswanath Mandir, Annapurna Mandir , Annapurna prasad place and Lalita ghat are very easy and hassle free. Visit to Daswaswameth Ghat is very hard as almost 1.5 km walking. In my opinion it will be better , if you take hotel at Godalia Chauraha. But overall we managed and satisfied after watching jyotirlinga 🙏. Har Har Mahadev 🙏
My wife and I stayed at the guest house for 9 nights. Reaching this facility was frustrating especially with large bags. From the airport , we had to take a taxi and then a rickshaw and then finally walk to reach this place after undergoing security screening. Help is available if we call the hotel/Guest house after you get off the rickshaw at gate #4. Once we checked in, the rest of the stay was extremely convenient and comfortable. The guest house is located right in the temple corridor, so it is easy to get in and out especially when you are attending several darshans and aarthis in a single day. There is a Satvik food court with just round the corner managed by Udipi group of restaurants. Easy access to the Nepali temple, Lalitha ghat and Lalitha Maa temple. For street food lovers, several options available on Kachouri street. My favorite was a stop at Blue Lassi. A must for lassi lovers. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Our departure was seamless as the staff helped us with the luggage till the rickshaw stop. Overall , except access initially to this place, we loved and would cherish our stay. Strongly recommended if one is prepared with the hazzles of reaching this place.
As clearly pointed out by other 1 star reviewers, the hotel fails to provide proper service to its guests with extremely rude behaviour of staff personnel and lack of respect for the guests. You will have to walk around 700 to 800m minimum to reach the hotel and no such assistance is provided by the hotel staff for this distance. (You will have to walk through a heavy crowd with your luggage) And the autos/riskshaws/carts are overpriced. I will strongly suggest to not book this hotel if you are travelling in a group / family. You can stay here if you are travelling single/ Couple with less luggages. The only reason for giving it 1 star is for its easy access to mandir premises, otherwise I would have rated it in the negative. Extremely disappointed with the hotel management and staff especially.
We had a wonderful experience staying at Hotel Southern Grand. The location is absolutely unbeatable, situated right within the temple campus, which made it incredibly convenient to visit the temple multiple times a day without standing in long queues. The rooms are spacious, clean, and well-maintained, offering a comfortable stay. The presence of lifts adds to the ease, especially for families and elderly guests. Being within the temple premises, the security is very tight and reassuring. The only minor drawback is that the hotel doesn't have an in-house kitchen or pantry — even for tea, you need to step outside. However, this isn’t a major issue as a well-equipped food court is just a 2-minute walk away. Overall, the experience was excellent. For anyone looking for peace, convenience, and proximity to the temple, Hotel Southern Grand is highly recommended.
