Kashi Annapurna Book Shop is a must-visit spot for book lovers and those interested in Indian culture and philosophy, especially in the vibrant Assi Ghat area. 📚 Collection & Focus: The shop could be described as an "Indological Haven," offering a good and diverse collection of books. Its strength lies in subjects like Indian art, philosophy, religion, spirituality, healing, Sufism, and classical texts, catering well to scholars, researchers, and tourists (often referred to as 'Indophiles'). Ypu can find works ranging from Mingyur Rinpoche to Khalil Gibran, indicating a broad spiritual and cultural scope. 📍 Location & Atmosphere: The location is convenient and prime, right in the heart of Assi Ghat. The shop provides a peaceful atmosphere—a welcome escape from the hustle of the city—which enhances the browsing and reading experience. 🧑💼 Service & Unique Offerings: The owner is well-mannered and providing a hospitable experience. Beyond books, it has an excellent selection of postcards and also note the availability of items like keychain, souvenir and sometimes Ayurvedic products. Overall Impression: The Kashi Annapurna Book Shop is a well-established (20+ years in business) and respected bookstore at Assi Ghat, known for its specialized collection, convenient location, and polite service, making it an essential stop despite some concerns about the pricing.
I love this store- for the brothers the energy the shrine. It is a charming visit in Varanasi and they always post international for me.
I recently visited the Kashi Annapurna Book Shop, run by Mr. Manish Dixit, at Assi Ghat, and while the shop itself is nice, the staff and owner are surprisingly rude and unwelcoming, contrary to their claims. Furthermore, they do not provide bills unless asked, which is a violation of consumer laws that require a copy of the bill for every transaction. The bill should be presented automatically, without the consumer needing to request it.
If you're ever in Varanasi, take a moment to visit this hidden gem of a bookshop. It's the perfect spot to escape the hustle and bustle—just pick up a book, settle in, and let the stories flow as if Maa Ganga herself is whispering them to you. The serenity and quiet of the river combined with the shop’s peaceful atmosphere offer an unmatched reading experience. For book lovers, this is a must-visit. And don’t miss their incredible collection of postcards—each one as beautiful and unique as the experience you'll have here.
Their collection of books is good but the prices are a bit expensive. They also have souvenirs, but i would recommend you to see other places before buying from here. The owner is well mannered, that's a plus point along with the location.
